Live Commentary: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 West Bromwich Albion - as it happened

Live text coverage as Tottenham Hotspur look to pick up their first league win of the season against a buoyant West Brom, courtesy of Sports Mole.

Good afternoon and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of the Premier League encounter between Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane.

Despite only being the second game of the new season, these two sides enter in contrasting moods after Spurs lost their first game at Newcastle, while the Baggies trounced Liverpool at The Hawthorns on the opening day.

Both sides have new managers at the helm but will it be Andre Villas-Boas or Steve Clarke going home happy this evening?

Follow our detailed text commentary below.

5.10pmBefore I go, just a quick nudge in the direction of our live commentary of the final Premier League game of the day at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and Newcastle. You can find it here. Goodbye!

5.08pmThat's about it from our coverage at White Hart Lane. If you'd like a more condensed version of events from this enthralling draw then you can read our match report right here.

4.57pmSo that's that! The spoils are shared thanks to Morrison's last-gasp strike at WHL.

FULL-TIME:Spurs 1-1 West Brom

90 minSpurs have been on top for most of the game but West Brom have a goal that in some way they do deserve.

90 minGOAL! Morrison equalises late on for the Baggies!

90 minOff the line! West Brom rise highest at a corner and it's headed onto the bar and away by goalscorer Assou-Ekotto.

85 minBale has been at the heart of most Spurs' attacks and he again warms the palms of Foster with a curling effort. Five plus stoppages left.

83 minIt's gone very end-to-end at the Lane and Bale fizzes in a cross that Adebayor leaves for fellow sub Sigurdsson but the Baggies defence just about clear.

74 minThe left-back's shot is deflected past the helpless Ben Foster.

74 minGOAL! Assou-Ekotto gives Spurs the lead!

72 minIt's suddenly all West Brom and the Baggies have had 80% possession in the last five minutes!

70 minLukaku again with a chance and the Belgian is again thwarted by Friedel!

68 minDefoe shoots from about 22 yards but it's straight at Foster, who does well to hold on and not offer the ready-to-pounce Adebayor a sniff.

65 minDisallowed goal! Defoe is caught offside as he puts the ball in the net. West Brom have also made a sub by bringing on Romelu Lukaku and the young Belgian has just forced Brad Friedel into an excellent save!

61 minSub for Spurs and new signing Emmanuel Adebayor replaces VdV.

54 minSave from Foster to deny Assou-Ekotto's free kick finding the net.

50 minMorrison finds space in the middle of the park and looks for Long but the Irishman is played offside by Vertonghen. Up the other end and Bale has space in the area but the ball is on his weaker right peg and he skews his volley high.

48 minYellow for debutant Jan Vertonghen as he trips Mulumbu. Chance for West Brom from the resulting free kick but Morrison's delivery is too long.

46 minWe're back underway and Spurs are straight back into their stride as Lennon and VdV interchange slick passes on the edge of the area.

4.05pmThe teams are re-emerging at WHL and we're moments from the second 45.

4.00pmLedley King has made an appearance at half-time and the former Spur, who now represents the club in an ambassadorial role, received a warm ovation.

3.52pmSo it's goalless at the break but Spurs have looked far the more likely to break the deadlock. Surely we'll see Adebayor and Sigurdsson soon?

HALF-TIME:Spurs 0-0 West Brom

45 minChance for West Brom this time as the impressive Yacob tries to pick out Fortune but Vertonghen just gets a foot in.

41 minSpurs are still doing all the pressing as Reid swipes out for a corner under pressure from Defoe.

28 minIt's all Spurs as new boy Vertonghen breaks forward from defence before skying an attempt on his weaker right foot.

23 minAway from WHL briefly and Robin van Persie has scored with his first ever shot for Manchester United. Bit of a corker too.

18 minIt's all Spurs at the moment and this time Walker's delivery is headed clear by Olsson.

17 minChance again for Spurs as this time it's Kyle Walker making a wide run before finding VDV in the area but the Dutchman can't wrap his foot round it.

15 minChance for Spurs as VDV releases Bale down the left and the Welshman picks out Lennon just inside the area. The Englishman fluffs his lines though by scuffing his shot horribly wide.

11 minVertonghen can't quite reach a ball across the back four and it allows Fortune a look at goal but he is denied by Sandro nipping in.

10 minBale again breaks clear down the left and fizzes a low ball across that is well cleared.

8 minApologies, we're having a few technical difficulties but little has happened in the opening eight minutes. Bale swung over a dangerous cross but it failed to find a teammate in the area with the only real opening.

3.00pmThe players are out, Spurs in their usual all-white, while West Brom are in their changed strip of all-red.

2.57pmRecently retired Ledley King is in the stands today and he'll be hoping his beloved side can pick up three points today.

2.55pmThe atmosphere is building in North London, will the home side and AVB in particular be able to impress the expectant Spurs supporters?

2.48pmJust over 10 minutes until the off at WHL and here's my prediction. I'm going for a 3-1 home victory, with Vertonghen scoring a header on his debut! (This decision is in now way affected by the fact that the Belgian is in my Fantasy Football team.)

2.42pmClick here for our match report of the day's early kickoff.

2.40pmMichael Laudrup's reign as Swansea manager marches on as his side net three goals against the Hammers. They've scored eight without reply this season and are top of the Premier League.

2.38pmFULL-TIME Swansea 3-0 West Ham

2.34pmBoth managers have been awfully nice to one another in the lead-up to this afternoon's match. Read Clarke's comments about AVB here and the Portuguese's niceties here.

2.26pmSome surprise omissions from Mr Clarke then, with captain Chris Brunt benched alongside last week's goal hero Zoltan Gera. Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku hasn't earned a starting berth despite his goal last time out.

2.24pmHere's the visitors' bench: Myhill, Brunt, Rosenberg, Jones, Gera, Dawson, Lukaku.

2.22pmSigurdsson and Adebayor are the two standout names there and expect them to feature if things aren't going the home side's way.

2.21pmSubs-wise, here is the Spurs bench this afternoon: Cudicini, Caulker, Naughton, Jenas, Townsend, Sigurdsson, Adebayor.

2.17pmMarc-Antoine Fortune gets his first minutes of the season then and starts alongside Shane Long up top.

2.14pmWBA TEAM ANNOUNCED! Here's the Baggies' XI: Foster; Reid, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell; Mulumbu, Yacob, Morrison, Dorrans; Fortune, Long

2.12pmBelgian international Vertonghen is given his debut in defence with the usual suspects Walker and Assou-Ekotto at full-back.

2.11pmSo, Defoe is preferred to Adebayor, with Rafael van der Vaart nudging out Gylfi Sigurdsson for the number 10 role behind the pint-sized Englishman.

2.09pmTEAM NEWS AHOY! Spurs' lineup is out: Friedel; Walker, Vertonghen, Gallas, Assou-Ekotto; Sandro, Livermore, Lennon, Bale, Van der Vaart; Defoe

2.08pmFurther back for the home side and summer signing Jan Vertonghen is expected to start alongside William Gallas in the heart of defence as Younes Kaboul is out injured.

2.05pmBefore the big Togo man's move to North London, Jermain Defoe was the only recognised senior striker available to AVB. The England international did net Spurs' goal at St James' Park last time out but will he partner Adebayor or start up front on his own?

2.04pmWe're still awaiting this afternoon's lineups and the main talking point is perhaps whether Emmanuel Adebayor will start up front after completing his move from Manchester City.

2.02pmFor the visitors, West Brom will be looking to claim their second big scalp of the season after dismantling Liverpool last time out.

2.00pmAfternoon all! Should be a good'un at WHL with Spurs especially needing a strong performance in front of their fans.
