Tottenham Hotspur announce that Japhet Tanganga will be absent for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Japhet Tanganga will miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

The 22-year-old has not taken to the field since playing 56 minutes against Chelsea in the Premier League on January 23 due to the injury - missing his side's last eight fixtures in the top flight.

Antonio Conte has been unable to put a timeframe on Tanganga's recovery over the past few weeks, but the club have now confirmed that the Englishman has gone under the knife.

A statement read: "Japhet Tanganga has undergone surgery on his right knee and will be out for the remainder of the season. The England Under-21 international will undergo a period of recovery and is expected to return to training during the pre-season period."

Tanganga's 2021-22 season ends with the defender making 19 appearances for the Lilywhites in all competitions, including 10 starts in the Premier League.

Conte is also dealing with the absences of Ryan Sessegnon and Oliver Skipp ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with top-four rivals West Ham United.
