Preview: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City

Following a somewhat indifferent start to life as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Mauricio Pochettino has slowly but surely got his side playing to a new style of play which has so far suited them well on all fronts.

Ahead of this weekend's FA Cup fourth-round meeting against Leicester City, Spurs find themselves in the race for a top-four spot in the Premier League, in the latter stages of the Europa League, and contesting in both domestic cup competitions.

A narrow victory over Sheffield United in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final on Wednesday night extended the club's impressive recent run, which has seen the Lilywhites lose just one of their last 11 games in all competitions.

That said, Pochettino was left a little unhappy with the way his charges went about creating chances against the Blades in the aforementioned game, and having played 13 matches more than this weekend's opponents it may be time to rotate the squad a little more before fatigue destabilises all the good work put in thus far.

His opposite number Nigel Pearson will no doubt be giving Premier League survival his full priority, but a run in the cup can do wonders for team morale, as witnessed in the 1-0 win over Newcastle United in the previous round.

The Foxes followed up that cup tie with a big victory over Midlands rivals Aston Villa to extend their four-game unbeaten run, yet defeat at home to Stoke City last time out has put an end to any momentum that they were beginning to build up.

As well as booking their place in the fifth round, Pearson's men will also use this fixture to avenge their 2-1 reverse at the hands of Tottenham at the back end of last year when Christian Eriksen's strike 20 minutes from time condemned them to a sixth successive defeat.

Leicester will be boosted by the introduction of record purchase Andrej Kramaric on Saturday afternoon following the striker's recent arrival from Croatian outfit Rijeka, and he is likely to lead the line at White Hart Lane.

Spurs could give Emmanuel Adebayor another run out as he looks to return to fitness, although out-of-form Roberto Soldado may be given the nod in his place.
