Tottenham Hotspur's Jan Vertonghen wants quick Europa League qualification

Tottenham Hotspur's Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen wants his team to secure Europa League qualification as soon as possible to concentrate on gaining Premier League points.

Tottenham Hotspur's Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen has said that he wants his side to seal Europa League qualification as quickly as possible.

Mauricio Pochettino's side travel to Vertonghen's homeland to take on Anderlecht before welcoming Besnik Hasi's side to White Hart Lane two weeks later, knowing that two wins would put them in an excellent position to make it out of Group J.

With a November 26 long-haul away trip to Qarabag FK sandwiched between Premier League ties against West Ham United and Chelsea, the 28-year-old wants Spurs to take all six points from the two games against Anderlecht.

"In the Europa League we have always played a strong team so far. Both at home against Qarabag as in Monaco," the Belgian told reporters ahead of Thursday's tie.

"I think it is a goal to secure qualification as soon as possible. After our game at Qarabag we play Sunday against Chelsea.

"It would not be as bad for us if we do not travel as some players can rest. We have quite a lot of injuries."

Vertonghen recently stated that Spurs must start beating the big Premier League teams.
