Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris calls on his team to "believe" that they can make it through into the knockout round of the Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has said that his team "need to believe" that they can qualify for the knockout round of the Champions League, despite their precarious situation in Group E.

Wednesday's 1-0 home defeat to Bayer Leverkusen has left Spurs third in the section, two points behind second-placed Leverkusen and four behind leaders AS Monaco with two games left to play.

Next up for the London club is a trip to Monaco later this month, and Lloris has called on Spurs to "create a miracle" as they bid to make the round of 16.

"We worked a lot last season to get into the Champions League and we cannot waste everything, we need to be ready for the next two games and try to get the miracle," Lloris told reporters.

"I don't want to think that we have already slipped out of this competition. I think there are still two games and six points, we need to believe. It's true that we cannot be in a worse situation today but that's football and sometimes you need to create a miracle."

Spurs will enter Sunday's Premier League clash against Arsenal off the back of a six-game winless run in all competitions, although they are still unbeaten in the league this season.
