CSKA Moscow coach Leonid Slutsky to step down after Tottenham Hotspur match

CSKA Moscow coach Slutsky to step down

CSKA Moscow coach Leonid Slutsky has confirmed that he will leave his post after Wednesday evening's Champions League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 45-year-old, who is one of the most successful managers in the Russian club's history, has been at the helm since 2009.

"CSKA would like to thank Leonid Slutsky for seven years of distinguished service, which has included three championships, two Russian Cups and two Super Cups," reads a statement on the club's official website.

Slutsky, who juggled the role with the Russian national team job between August 2015 and June 2016, will leave CSKA in third place in the league going into the winter break.

CSKA's immediate future in European competitions will be decided when they take on Spurs, with the Russian side needing to win the match to salvage a place in the Europa League.
