Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Borussia Dortmund

Spurs injury, suspension list vs. Dortmund

Mauricio Pochettino will continue his bid to win his first trophy as Tottenham Hotspur manager on Wednesday night when his team host Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Spurs recorded just one point from their first three group-stage fixtures, but two wins and a draw in the second half of the campaign secured the runners-up spot behind Barcelona.

The North London outfit have not produced their best form on the domestic front since the start of 2019, but three successive wins have been registered in the Premier League.

The latest of those came on Sunday afternoon as Spurs overcame a valiant effort from Leicester City to prevail by a 3-1 scoreline at Wembley Stadium.

Here, Sports Mole looks at Spurs' latest injury and suspension news ahead of their showdown with the Bundesliga leaders.

SPURS' INJURY LIST

Harry Kane

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: February 23

Harry Kane has been absent from the first-team squad since sustaining an ankle injury against Manchester United in the middle of January. Reports have suggested that the forward is making good progress in his recovery, but Pochettino has indicated that the club's top goalscorer will not return until the Premier League fixture away at Burnley on February 23.

Dele Alli

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: March 2

Dele Alli has not featured for Spurs since sustaining a hamstring injury against Fulham on January 20. The midfielder had already been carrying an issue with the same muscle, and is unlikely to return before the start of March.

Ben Davies

Status: Out Type of injury: Groin Possible return date: Unknown

Ben Davies suffered a groin problem during the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals against Chelsea, and the Welshman has remained on the sidelines ever since. It remains unclear when the left-sided defender will return to action.

Vincent Janssen

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Pochettino has revealed that Janssen is part of his first-team squad for the rest of the season, but the Dutchman is currently carrying a knee injury and is not in contention to play for the foreseeable future.

Danny Rose

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Shin Possible return date: February 13

Danny Rose sustained a minor shin injury against Leicester at the weekend, and Pochettino has acknowledged that the left-sided defender is a doubt for Wednesday night.
