Sporting Kansas City go top spot of MLS Eastern Conference

Sporting Kansas City have taken top spot in the MLS Eastern Conference while heaping more misery on DC United with a 1-0 win at Sporting Park.

The Wizards started the night one point behind New York Red Bulls but an early goal from Dom Dwyer was all that was needed to return to the summit.

It was Soony Saad pestering Perry Kitchen that set up the chance for the 23-year-old forward to steal and and slip the ball underneath Bill Hamid in just the seventh minute of the game.

The result condemned Ben Olsen's men to their 11th game without a win, leaving them at the bottom of the table and 10 points adrift of nearest rivals Toronto FC.
