Kansas beat Impact for third straight win

Sporting Kansas City have edged out Montreal Impact 2-1 this morning to record their third successive MLS win.

The hosts enjoyed almost the perfect start when Benny Feilhaber slotted past Evan Bush to give Kansas the lead after just four minutes of play at Sporting Park.

The veteran Brazilian midfielder turned provider shortly after the half-hour mark to set up Dom Dwyer, whose left-footed shot on the edge of the box proved too hot for Bush.

Dominic Oduro found himself with a fine chance to reduce the arrears afterwards, but he failed to beat Tim Melia from the six-yard box.

City could, and perhaps should, have struck a killer third shortly before the break, but Jacob Petersen failed to head home a Feilhaber delivery.

On 59 minutes, the visitors threw a spanner in the works when Ignacio Piatti stroked past Melia from Calum Mallace's pass.

Andres Romero fired wide in the final quarter in what proved to be the Impact's last real shot at salvaging a point as Kansas march on.
