Report: David de Gea suffers leg injury, out of group stage

Spain goalkeeper David de Gea suffers a leg injury and could be out for the rest of the World Cup group stage, according to reports.

Spain goalkeeper David de Gea has suffered a leg injury and could be out for the rest of the World Cup group stage, according to reports.

The Manchester United stopper is alleged to have undergone medical scans on Sunday that revealed a leg muscle strain, with the defending champions listing him as day-to-day.

According to AP, De Gea, who recently made his La Roja debut against El Salvador, will be sidelined for up to 10 days, ruling him out of the final two Group B matches against Chile and Australia.

Spain captain Iker Casillas has come under scrutiny following his performance in the 5-1 defeat to the Netherlands, with Pepe Reina now the only other option available to the world and European champions going into Wednesday's game against Chile at the Maracana.
