Southampton ease to opening pre-season win

Southampton begin their pre-season friendlies with a comfortable 4-0 win over Dutch fourth-tier side EHC Hoensbroek.

Southampton cruised to a 4-0 victory in their first pre-season friendly against Dutch fourth-tier side EHC Hoensbroek this evening.

The Premier League side were in front after 12 minutes when Sam McQueen's shot took a deflection and looped over the Hoensbroek keeper.

It was two just before half time when McQueen turned provider, crossing for Calum Chambers to head in at the near post.

Ronald Koeman changed the entire XI at half time and the second lineup did as well as the first by also scoring twice in 45 minutes.

Billy Sharp converted the third from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute after Steven Davis was brought down, before Davis himself made it four just two minutes later.
