Former Southampton and England forward Matt Le Tissier comes out of retirement to sign for beleaguered island outfit Guernsey FC.

Guernsey FC have confirmed the signing of former England and Southampton forward Matt Le Tissier.

The 44-year-old will come out of retirement to help out the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division outfit, who have to play 17 fixtures in a month due to postponements.

Born on the island just off the North-West tip of France, Le Tissier has made himself available for his debut next Sunday.

"The fixture pile-up has been a bit mad and they need all the bodies they can get," Le Tissier told BBC Radio 5 live's Weekend Breakfast show.

"The first squad I'll be available for is next Sunday's game (April 14) at home to Raynes Park Vale.

"Saturday games are out but there are probably four or five games I'll be available for."

Le Tissier has made his name as a pundit on Sky Sports News's Soccer Saturday since hanging up his boots.
