Artur Boruc promises to make amends

Artur Boruc says that he will earn Southampton the points they dropped against Stoke City due to his error at the Britannia Stadium.

Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc has vowed to earn back the two points his team dropped against Stoke City after he was caught out by a freak Asmir Begovic goal.

The Polish international was duped by the wind as the Potters keeper found the back of the net with a goal kick 13 seconds into the match at the Britannia Stadium.

Jay Rodriguez's goal just before half time ensured that the Saints left with a point, but Boruc was regretful following the match.

"This is my job and I should protect those kind of situations and in the end I didn't do anything," Sky Sports News quotes the 33-year-old as saying.

"That cost us two points and it is hard for the lads because they put a lot of effort into today's game and probably deserved three points.

"What can I say? I can promise I will get those two points back."

The result leaves the South Coast club fifth in the Premier League.
