Dave Jones targets more Sheffield Wednesday glory

Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones says the club can seal a double promotion to the Premier League next season following yesterday's promotion from League One.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones has targeted more success in the Championship next season after guiding the Owls to automatic promotion yesterday.

Wednesday knew that a win against Wycombe Wanderers would ensure promotion to England's second tier and goals from Michail Antonio and Nile Ranger meant they pipped their Steel City rivals Sheffield United to the second automatic promotion spot.

"I arrived 12 matches ago and my remit from the chairman (Milan Mandaric) was promotion. Anything else would've been a failure," Jones told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"Knowing the chairman, next season will not just be about survival."

An impressive sell-out crowd of 38,082 people watched at Hillsborough yesterday and Jones described the atmosphere as frightening.

"This club's been in the doldrums but when you see this place rocking it's frightening," the 55-year-old added.

"The fans deserve their day and when you have suffered the bad days, you enjoy the better ones."

Jones added that emulating the recent double promotion to the Premier League feat of Southampton and Norwich was not unrealistic for the Owls.
