Stuart Gray: 'Derby County will win promotion to the Premier League'

Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray feels that Derby will earn promotion from the Championship after seeing the Rams twice come from behind twice to beat the Owls.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray believes that Derby County will be promoted to the Premier League after watching the Rams twice rally from behind to defeat his side 3-2 at the iPro Stadium.

The Owls took a 1-0 lead into the break courtesy of a strike from Lewis McGugan, but Jake Buxton brought the home side level early in the second half, only for Will Keane to fire the visitors ahead once more.

However, Steve McClaren's team displayed their promotion credentials as Buxton equalised again and home side secured the win from penalty spot as Darren Bent found the back of the net, leaving Gray to rue his side's mistakes.

Gray told Sky Sports News: "Derby are a good side and I think they will get promoted and because they put you under so much pressure we have got lads making decisions with tired minds, but to get ourselves 2-1 up gave us something to build on.

"The disappointing thing in the dressing room was we know how well we have defended our 18-yard box and it's very rare for us to conceded goals from set plays. And then for Westy [Keiren Westwood] to get sent off, I think that was a bit harsh."

Wednesday are 12th a Championship table that is now topped by Derby, nine points clear of the relegation zone.
