Sevilla vs Getafe - prediction, team news, lineups

Getafe will be aiming to make it back-to-back wins at the start of their 2025-26 La Liga campaign when they travel to Estadio Ramon on Monday night to tackle Sevilla.

The visitors opened their season with a 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo, while their hosts started their campaign with a 3-2 defeat to Athletic Bilbao, but there were positives to take despite the disappointing result.

Match preview

Sevilla finished 17th in Spain's top flight last season, which proved to be their lowest final spot in La Liga since being relegated in 2000, so there is clear room for improvement during the 2025-26 campaign.

It would have been utterly disastrous for Los Nervionenses had they been relegated last season, but a new campaign brings new opportunities, and the team are now being led by Argentine Matias Almeyda.

Sevilla fought back from two goals behind to level the scores at 2-2 with Athletic Bilbao in their season opener last weekend, but an 81st-minute effort from Robert Navarro won it for the Basque outfit.

The 1945-46 La Liga champions have made three signings during this summer's transfer window, bringing in Alfon Gonzalez and Gabriel Suazo on free transfers, while Odysseas Vlachodimos has arrived from Newcastle United on loan.

Sevilla have won three of their last four matches against Getafe, but the score was goalless when the two teams last locked horns in the capital back in February of this year.

Getafe, meanwhile, started their 2025-26 La Liga campaign with a 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo; Adrian Liso made the breakthrough in the 47th minute before Christantus Uche netted in the 72nd minute.

A win and a clean sheet was the perfect start to the season for the Deep Blue Ones, who finished 13th in Spain's top flight last term, just two points clear of the relegation zone and six points off 10th-placed Mallorca.

Jose Bordalas's side have been busy during this summer's transfer window, signing nine players in total, with their biggest arrival in terms of a transfer fee proving to be Juanmi from Real Betis.

Getafe have also made a major sale during the current market, with Omar Alderete moving to Sunderland, while Carles Alena, Juan Bernat and Allan Nyom are also among those to have left.

The Deep Blue Ones were fifth back in 2018-19, but they have been 15th, 15th, 15th, 12th and 13th in their last five campaigns, so it has been an underwhelming few years for the capital outfit.

Team News

Sevilla will be without the services of Joan Jordan, Adnan Januzaj, Tanguy Nianzou and Santis Idumbo for their second match of the new campaign, while Ramon Martinez is also likely to be absent.

Dodi Lukebakio was in excellent form for Sevilla last season, scoring 11 times in La Liga, and he is already off the mark for the new campaign, with another start expected on Monday night.

There should also be a spot in the final third of the field for Akor Adams, who made the move to the Estadio Ramon from Montpellier during the January transfer window.

As for Getafe, Juanmi remains an injury doubt, while Alex Sancris will miss out through suspension.

Uche and Liso found the back of the net against Celta in the team's opening match of the new season, and both are set to feature in the final third of the field in this contest.

Davinchi is among the players to have made the move to Getafe this summer, and the 17-year-old is set for another start, while on-loan Real Madrid midfielder Mario Martin is likely to be in the XI.

Sevilla possible starting lineup:

Nyland; Carmona, Castrin, Salas, Sanchez; Agoume, Gudelj; Lukebakio, Sow, Vargas; Adams

Getafe possible starting lineup:

Soria; Dakonam, Rico, Iglesias; Bekhoucha, Martin, Milla, Arambarri, Davinchi; Liso, Uche

We say: Sevilla 1-1 Getafe

The last meeting between the two sides back in February finished all square, and we can see another draw here, which both managers would likely take if it were offered ahead of kickoff.
