Sevilla goalkeeper Beto has insisted that he is ready to battle Sergio Rico for the number one position at the Estadio Ramon this season.
Beto started last season as the undisputed first-choice stopper, but a series of injuries saw him miss a lot of football after the winter break.
As a result, Rico replaced the experienced Portuguese between the sticks, but Beto is confident that he will secure the gloves for the new campaign.
"I'm fine physically and this season we're starting from scratch, with new challenges and objectives," he told AS. "I don't have the answer to who will be the first-choice goalkeeper. I can only give my all to the coach.
"There's healthy competition between [Sergio Rico and me] and we help each other. The most important thing is the team."
Sevilla will face Barcelona in the European Super Cup on August 11.
