Obafemi Martins strike earns Seattle Sounders comeback win

Seattle earn comeback win

A late goal from Obafemi Martins handed the Seattle Sounders a 2-1 victory over 10-man Chivas USA in their MLS clash.

The home side took the lead in the fifth minute when Osvaldo Alonso brought down Leandro Barrera in the area, and Erick Torres fired the resulting penalty past Stefan Frei.

However, Seattle weren't behind for long. Lamar Neagle got them level as he blasted the ball home from close range after Chivas keeper Dan Kennedy had spilled it in the six-yard box.

Chivas nearly went ahead again just before the break when Mauro Rosales drilled a free kick at goal from 30 yards, but Frei was able to make the stop, palming the ball away from goal.

After half time, the hosts were reduced to 10 men when Marco Delgado was harshly sent off for a challenge Gonzalo Pineda as he tried to win the ball.

Seattle tried to capitalise on their one-man advantage as Neagle searched for his second, but he couldn't get a shot away after stealing the ball from the hand of Kennedy.

The Sounders did get their second goal which proved to be the winner when Clint Dempsey released the run of Martins inside the box, who lifted the ball over Kennedy into the net.
