Levein leaves Scotland post

Craig Levein has left his position at the helm of Scotland after three years in charge of the national team.

The 48-year-old leaves his role with Scotland currently bottom of their World Cup qualification group after securing just two points from four games.

Scotland have only won three of their 12 competitive matches with Levein in charge, but the experienced boss had vowed to not resign from his position.

His contract was due to expire in 2014 and it is understood that sacking the former defender will cost the Scottish Football Association up to £700,000.

Scotland's next qualification match is against Wales on March 22.
