Half-Time Report: Middlesbrough lead 10-man Rotherham United

A disastrous first half for Rotherham United sees them 2-0 down to Middlesbrough after being reduced to 10 men at the New York Stadium.

A disastrous first half for Rotherham United has left them 2-0 down to Middlesbrough after being reduced to 10 men at the New York Stadium this afternoon.

Patrick Bamford claimed just his second goal for Boro when he turned on the edge of the box before sending a shot into the bottom corner after just seven minutes.

The visitors then extended their advantage through Yanic Wildschut, who was making his first start for the club.

The winger showed a great bit of skill to open up the chance and he fired in a left-footed strike past Adam Collin in the Millers' goal.

Jordan Bowery had earlier replaced Alex Revell through injury, but the substitute's afternoon was short-lived after he was shown a red card on the half-hour mark for kicking out at George Friend.

The lively Wildschut raced down the right-hand side moments after the sending-off, but Kike spurned the cut-back by firing over when well placed, before wasting a similar opportunity shortly after.
