Roma "optimistic" over Daniele De Rossi

AS Roma general manager Franco Baldini has revealed that he is hopeful Daniele De Rossi will sign a new contract with the club.

The Italian international's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, meaning that he is now able to discuss terms with other clubs.

However, Baldini is confident that the 28-year-old will soon commit his future to Roma.

"Negotiations for the renewal of De Rossi are open," said Baldini. "It's true that he is now free to sign for anyone.

"But I'm optimistic that he can sign the renewal deal with us."

De Rossi has spent his entire career with Roma.
