Baldini: 'Andreazzoli not a stopgap'

Roma sporting director Franco Baldini has denied that Aurelio Andreazzoli is a short-term replacement for Zdenek Zeman.

The Czech coach was relieved of his duties last weekend following the Giallorossi's 4-2 defeat at home to Cagliari, with the 59-year-old stepping up from assistant manager's role to fill the void.

Baldini said that the 59-year-old was the "logical choice" and is not just a stopgap.

"Andreazzoli was a logical choice due to his experience," Football Italia quotes the 52-year-old as saying.

"He has our utmost faith and we have confidence Aurelio does not represent just a temporary solution, as hopefully it can become definitive."

Zeman left Roma sixth in Serie A and six points off a Europa League spot.
