Hoolahan withdraws from Ireland squad

Norwich City's Wes Hoolahan has withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad to play Serbia.

Hoolahan had been called up to replace the injured Darron Gibson, who had earlier been forced to pull out with a torn thigh muscle.

However, just hours after he was included by manager Giovanni Trapattoni, the Norwich midfielder withdrew from the squad to rest an Achilles injury.

Hoolahan has not featured for the Republic of Ireland since he made his debut in 2008.
