James McClean "100%" fit for Republic of Ireland

Republic of Ireland winger James McClean declares himself "100%" fit for Sunday's crucial Euro 2016 qualifier with Group D leaders Poland.

Republic of Ireland winger James McClean has declared himself "100%" fit for his side's Euro 2016 qualifier with Poland on Sunday.

The 25-year-old limped out of training on Tuesday after picking up an ankle injury that appeared to put his participation in this weekend's game in doubt.

However, he has insisted that the problem just needs "a couple of days' rest" and that he will be available for the crucial qualifier against the Group D leaders.

"Oh, 100%, yes. It's been positive news, just plenty of rest, plenty of ice and I should be ready to go. You'd have to chop my foot off otherwise. I'm fine. It's a bit sore, but it's just bone bruising. A couple of days' rest and it should be fine," McClean told reporters.

"I was [concerned], yes, because I didn't remember getting a kick or going over on it, and obviously that's the worrying part. In pre-season, I did my other ankle, so that was kind of on my mind.

"But I went for the scan and it came back positive and I'm happy with how it came back. Like I say, it's just plenty of ice and it should be okay. I spoke to the medical staff and we agreed that it was best just to give it that extra 24, 48 hours extra rest. The game is not until Sunday."

Ireland currently sit fourth in Group D, three points behind Poland and level with Germany and Scotland.
