Trapattoni expects Given to face Hungary

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni is confident that goalkeeper Shay Given will be fit for Euro 2012.

The 36-year-old Aston Villa stopper had been doubtful for the tournament after picking up a knee injury in training.

However, Given has overcome that injury and, despite missing training earlier today with blisters, he is expected to face Hungary in Budapest on Monday.

Trapattoni said: "It was better to let him have a rest because he has worked too much, and it is better that he is fresh, and also mentally fresh.

"It is true that we have a possibility to call another, but it would be better if we finished this friendly game without a problem."

Given has been capped 121 times by Ireland.
