Bordeaux slump to Reims defeat

Odair Fortes scores the only goal of the game as Reims claim a 1-0 win over Bordeaux in Ligue 1 this evening.

Bordeaux have missed the chance to move top of the Ligue 1 table after falling to a 1-0 defeat at Reims this evening.

Gregory Sertic had the first attempt on goal for the visitors, but he could only drag his strike wide of the target.

Reims were next to threaten, but Gaetan Charbonnier headed over from Benjamin Moukandjo's free kick.

Odair Fortes gave the hosts the lead just past the half-hour mark as his cross from the right found the back of the net after eluding keeper Cedric Carrasso.

After the break, Bordeaux increased the pressure in their search for an equaliser and Thomas Toure saw his strike saved before Jaroslav Plasil fired over the bar.

Emiliano Sala wasted a huge chance to bring the visitors back on level terms with 11 minutes left to play, but he could only head over from Nicolas Maurice-Belay's cross.

Bordeaux continued to push for a goal late on, but they could not find the back of the net as they lost their second match in Ligue 1 this season.
