Real Valladolid, Rayo Vallecano play out draw

A 1-1 draw at the Jose Zorrilla Stadium between Real Valladolid and Rayo Vallecano ensures that both sides remain in La Liga relegation trouble.

Real Valladolid remain in the La Liga relegation zone following a 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Rayo Vallecano at the Jose Zorrilla Stadium.

The visitors made the perfect start to the match, taking the lead with three minutes on the clock when Ze Castro put the ball into his own net.

Chances were few and far between in the opening 45 minutes, but the Franjirrojos did level on the brink of half time through Alberto Bueno, who latched onto Roberto Trashorras's cross into the box to steer home.

Ruben Rochina almost gave his side the lead with 72 minutes played, but his effort from distance sailed a few inches over the bat with Jaime off his line.

Moments later Jaime needed to be on guard once more as Rochina unleashed a strike towards goal which was well kept out.

Oscar Gonzalez came close to finding a winner for Valladolid after a mazy run through the Vallecano defence, but he could not compose himself and fired wide of the target when clear on goal.
