David Moyes: 'No favourite for Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao derby'

David Moyes says that he does not believe that his Real Sociedad side are favourites for tomorrow evening's Basque derby against Athletic Bilbao.

David Moyes does not feel that his Real Sociedad side are favourites for tomorrow evening's Basque derby against Athletic Bilbao.

Both sides have struggled this season with just one win apiece, but Sociedad have picked up two more draws than Bilbao who are just three places off the La Liga relegation zone.

Moyes does not believe that the White and Blues are the front runners in the fixture, though.

"I don't see either team as favourites – both of the last two derbies ended in draws," the former Everton and Manchester United manager told reporters. We have an advantage in that we are at home and we hope that will help us but we'll have to play very well. Athletic are a good, strong team and they've showed that in some of their performances this season."

"The team played very well in Granada; we could have scored more goals, but I hope we have saved some of those goals for this game, against Athletic. We've got a deep squad and during the course of the season, we will need to use them all.

"There's a saying 'horses for courses' and sometimes you have to find the right horse for a certain course. We have a good team, but I don't think you'll be expecting me to divulge which players I will be fielding tomorrow. If we can get a victory, then it will increase confidence and self-belief. In the games we have played so far, we haven't deserved to lose any of them."

Having been sacked by United in April 2014, Moyes was appointed Sociedad manager last November but has won just over 30% of his games at the San Sebastian club.
