Xabi Alonso: "I could go back to the Premier League"

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has admitted that he is interested in returning to England.

The 31-year-old, who spent five seasons at Liverpool before moving to the Bernabeu for a fee of £30m in August 2009, has 18 months remaining on his current contract.

"I have not decided on my future," said Alonso. "I will only stay at Real Madrid if I can offer the same level on the pitch as I can now and we will see what happens in the next few months.

"There is always a chance I could go back to the Premier League as I always enjoyed good times there."

Alonso has been capped 106 times by Spain at senior international level.
