Real Madrid transfer news: Rodrygo 'could stay' with Los Blancos despite Premier League interest

Stay put? Rodrygo 'could remain' with Madrid despite PL interest

Rodrygo could reportedly be set to remain at Real Madrid this summer despite Premier League interest.

The 24-year-old's influence in Los Blancos' ranks waned last season following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.

Nevertheless, Rodrygo managed to score six goals and provide five assists across 30 La Liga matches for Real Madrid in 2024-25.

The Brazilian was included in his side's Club World Cup squad this summer in the United States but started just the single match.

Rodrygo was an unused substitute for Xabi Alonso's men on July 9, when they lost 4-0 to PSG in a semi-final clash at the MetLife Stadium in New York.

Real Madrid could keep Rodrygo?

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid could retain the services of attacker Rodrygo past the conclusion of the summer window.

The report claims that there remains a host of Premier League sides keen on the player, including Thomas Frank's Tottenham Hotspur.

It is understood that the Lilywhites view Rodrygo as a player who would take their forward line to the next level as they prepare to compete in the Champions League.

However, there is supposedly a possibility of the Brazilian staying at the Bernabeu this summer, waving goodbye to a North London switch.

Rodrygo's representatives are said to be 'calm' about the situation, which could be resolved with a move to the Premier League in August.

Tottenham's attacking ranks

After lifting the Europa League in May, Tottenham need to bolster their squad in order to successfully compete in the Champions League.

Not only does that mean an increased number of forward options, but there is the requirement of improved quality in those areas.

Rodrygo would represent a major upgrade on Tottenham's current starters, bringing Champions League-winning experience to North London.
