Real Madrid will reportedly table a bid for Everton defender John Stones if Raphael Varane leaves the Bernabeu.

Stones was heavily pursued by Chelsea in the summer transfer window, but the Premier League champions failed to convince the Toffees to sell, despite making four offers.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Madrid could enter the race for Stones if they have to find a replacement for Varane, who is believed to be wanted by Manchester United.

Stones has become a prominent member in Everton's backline following his move from Barnsley two years ago.
