Experienced midfielder Luka Modric is yet to be contacted by Real Madrid over a new deal at Bernabeu, according to a report.

Luka Modric is reportedly uncomfortable with his contract situation at Real Madrid, with the midfielder only having a deal with the Spanish and European champions until the end of June.

The 37-year-old has again been a vital player for Los Blancos this term, featuring on 37 occasions in all competitions, contributing six goals and five assists in the process.

However, the Croatian is out of contract at the end of this season, and there is currently uncertainty surrounding his future in the Spanish capital.

According to Goal, Modric has not yet been contacted by Real Madrid officials to discuss an extension, which has left him uncomfortable with his situation in the Spanish capital.

The report claims that the experienced midfielder 'has been waiting for months' to understand the club's plans, but there have not been any discussions over an extension.

Modric expressed a desire to sign a new deal at Real Madrid when questioned during the international break.

"My wish is known, to stay at Real Madrid. I believe and hope it will happen. The rest are only assumptions and rumours. I repeat for the 100th time, I hope and believe I will stay at Real Madrid," he told reporters.

The midfielder also rejected claims that Los Blancos wanted him to retire from international duty to earn an extension.

"Short and clear, no," he said when whether a new deal depended on him hanging up his boots for Croatia.

Modric remains a key player for his country and is believed to have plans to feature at the European Championship in 2024, should the 2018 World Cup finalists qualify.

The midfielder has scored four times and registered three assists in 24 La Liga appearances during the 2022-23 campaign, while he has two goals and one assist in six Champions League outings.

Modric has made 473 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2012, contributing 37 goals and 76 assists in the process.

A number of MLS and Saudi Arabian clubs are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation in the Spanish capital, as he will be a free agent in little under three months if his situation remains unchanged.

As well as Modric, Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Toni Kroos, Dani Ceballos, Nacho and Mariano Diaz only have deals with Real Madrid until the end of June.
