Manchester City target Carlo Ancelotti reveals plans if Real Madrid sack him

Ancelotti to take sabbatical if sacked by Real

Carlo Ancelotti has distanced himself from speculation linking him to Manchester City by revealing that he will take a year-long break if he is sacked by Real Madrid.

The Italian coach is expected to be axed by Los Blancos this summer after overseeing a trophyless season at the Bernabeu.

Ancelotti, who led them to Copa del Rey and Champions League glory last term, has reportedly agreed to replace Manuel Pellegrini - who also failed to win a trophy this season - at Eastlands next term.

However, speaking to reporters after his side's thrilling 7-3 win over Getafe in their final game of the season, the 55-year-old said: "My future is clear, I am staying at Real Madrid or I will take a year off.

"If the club tells me I'm not wanted, I won't be happy. But sackings are commonplace in my line of work.

"There's no hurry to sort anything. The club are considering what to do and I'm not in a hurry to leave. I have had no communication from the club yet. I will know my fate on Monday or Tuesday."

Real finished two points behind champions Barcelona in La Liga this season.
