Real Zaragoza hold Real Madrid

Real Zaragoza and Real Madrid play out a 1-1 draw in La Liga, with Cristiano Ronaldo cancelling out Rodri's opener.

It was a quiet opening but the game came to life in the sixth minute as Rodri finished well from an Apono pass to put the hosts ahead.

It took 28 minutes for a really good Real chance as Luka Modric whipped in a dangerous free kick, but it was scrambled clear by a dogged home defence.

A few minutes later Gonzalo Higuain fluffed his lines after doing well to get into the box, but five minutes before the break Real were level.

Higuain found Ronaldo in the box and he slammed in the equaliser from close range.

Not long after the restart Real should have taken the lead. Ronaldo forced Roberto into action in the home goal before Marcelo hit the post with the rebound.

Helder Postiga fired a half-chance from distance wide before Ronaldo too missed the target, striking high and wide.

Zaragoza started to control the game in the closing stages, but clear-cut chances were few and far between; Postiga headed a cross over with a couple of minutes left.

That proved to be the best chance in the closing stages as the game fizzled out to a 1-1 draw.
