The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Real Madrid eye possible reinforcements.
Florentino Perez oversaw a significant overhaul of his squad last summer before focusing more on youth in January. As is always the case with Madrid, though, some of the biggest names in football continue to be linked, even in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news of possible comings and goings at the Bernabeu.
Tuesday morning's Real Madrid transfer talk news roundup:
Report: Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic rejected Chelsea move
Luka Jovic reportedly rejected the chance to join Chelsea earlier this summer as he is determined to prove himself at Real Madrid.
The Serbia international endured a tough first campaign at the Bernabeu after joining from Eintracht Frankfurt in a big-money deal last year.
Jovic managed two goals in 27 appearances in all competitions and was widely expected to move on before the 2020-21 campaign started.
However, Spanish outlet AS claims that the 22-year-old turned down the opportunity to revive his career away from Madrid.
Chelsea are said to have made an approach before agreeing a deal to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, while AC Milan, Napoli and Monaco also showed an interest.
Jovic was kept on the bench as Madrid played out a goalless draw with Real Sociedad in their opening La Liga game of the season on Sunday.
Speaking after the game, boss Zinedine Zidane denied having any issues with the former Benfica player.
Real Madrid 'considering swoop for free agent Edinson Cavani'
Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for former Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
The 33-year-old has been a free agent since leaving PSG at the end of his contract earlier this summer, ending a trophy-laden and record-breaking seven-year spell in the French capital.
Marca reports that Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is eager to bolster his attacking options, particularly after watching his side begin their title defence with a goalless draw at Real Sociedad.
Karim Benzema was the only member of the attacking quartet over the age 21 in that match, with Martin Odegaard, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior starting and Marvin Park and Sergio Arribas coming off the bench.
The report claims that Madrid were offered Cavani after that draw and that they are considering moving for the Uruguay international.
Cavani would reportedly demand wages of around €7m (£6.4m) per year, but Madrid are attracted by the fact that he would be available on a free transfer.
Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Roma, Benfica and Gremio are among the other clubs to have been linked with PSG's all-time leading scorer.
