Zinedine Zidane hints at Karim Benzema, Alvaro Morata pairing

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane hints that he would be prepared to select both Alvaro Morata and Karim Benzema in the same starting XI.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has insisted that he would not be afraid to select both Alvaro Morata and Karim Benzema in the same starting XI this season.

Morata, who returned to the Bernabeu from Juventus this summer, has started the new campaign as Real Madrid's first-choice centre-forward due to Benzema's hip problem, which kept him on the sidelines in the opening weeks.

Benzema returned to action off the bench in Saturday's 5-2 win over Osasuna, but Zidane has played down suggestions that Morata will now be immediately relegated to the sidelines.

"I thought Benzema did well, playing behind [Alvaro] Morata. He had rhythm. On Wednesday he will be ready to play," Zidane told reporters.

Real Madrid will begin the defence of their Champions League title against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday night.
