Sergio Ramos: 'Madrid need ambitious new manager'

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos calls for the club to replace Jose Mourinho with an ambitious manager of similar stature as they bid to get back on the trophy trail next season.

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has declared that the club must replace outgoing manager Jose Mourinho with an ambitious coach who has complete trust in the squad.

Mourinho will end a three-year spell in Madrid this Saturday as he takes charge of their final La Liga clash of the season against Osasuna.

The 27-year-old believes that his side need a determined, experienced character capable of managing a strong dressing room and mentioned Jupp Heynckes and Carlo Ancelotti as potential candidates for the post.

He told Marca: "At a group level, we need a manager who trusts this squad and is ambitious; who is determined to achieve things.

"Heynckes and Ancelotti are two great managers, but we don't know who's coming. There are players of lots of different nationalities here.

"There's been no lack of trust since Mourinho first arrived, and there won't be right up to the end."

Ramos has also been at pains to insist that Mourinho deserves respect for his achievements as Madrid boss during an eventful spell at the Bernabeu.
