Karim Benzema returns to Madrid training

French striker Karim Benzema has resumed training with Spanish champions Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old had been granted extended leave by coach Jose Mourinho following France's run to the quarter-finals of Euro 2012 earlier this summer.

The centre-forward was back at Madrid's training base this morning, where he took part in an open session.

However, the likes of Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira, Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso and Cristiano Ronaldo are all still away on holiday.

Los Blancos will play their opening pre-season fixture this evening against Real Oviedo.
