David Beckham: 'Real Madrid should keep Zinedine Zidane'

David Beckham says that Zinedine Zidane should retain his job as Real Madrid head coach, even if they lose the Champions League final.

Former Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham has urged the club to retain the services of his former teammate Zinedine Zidane.

Forty-three-year-old Zidane only took charge at the Bernabeu in January, but there have been suggestions that president Florentino Perez will once again wield the axe if Los Blancos lose the Champions League final against rivals Atletico Madrid later this month.

However, Beckham has insisted that Real need a stable base, which means that Zidane should be allowed to continue, regardless of the result against Atletico.

"Madrid needs stability and continuity. It'd be good for Zidane to carry on for a while there and keep the players he has now," the Englishman told Spanish magazine XL Semanal.

"Even if they don't win the Champions League they should give him a chance and let him work. Stability is the key, it's just the base for all things in life and business."

Real have won Europe's top prize on a record 10 occasions.
