Carlo Ancelotti 'surprised' by recent twist

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti admits that he was surprised by events in La Liga this weekend, when none of the top three picked up maximum points.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that he was surprised by events in La Liga this weekend.

None of the top three in Spain picked up all three points this weekend, with Atletico Madrid losing 2-0 at Levante, Barcelona drawing 2-2 with Getafe and Madrid drawing 2-2 with Valencia.

"We've had a surprising finish to the season, because Levante played a very good match against Atletico despite having nothing to play for," he told reporters at a press conference.

"And Valencia, who also have nothing to play for, played a very good match against us. That's good for the league. Every team is going to fight until the end and so are we."

Madrid's game in hand over Atletico and Barcelona is away to Real Valladolid on Wednesday.
