Real Madrid injury, suspension news vs. Sevilla: Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo updates

Vinicius, Rodrygo updates: Real Madrid injury, suspension news vs. Sevilla

Real Madrid will head to Sevilla on Sunday evening for the penultimate match of their 2024-25 La Liga campaign.

Los Blancos kept the title race alive on Wednesday evening by recording a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Mallorca, with the result moving them to within four points of leaders Barcelona in the La Liga table.

However, Barcelona will have the chance to secure the championship with two matches to spare when they take on Espanyol in the Catalan derby on Thursday night.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of their fixture with Sevilla, who will enter the match off the back of a huge 1-0 victory over Las Palmas.

Rodrygo

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Illness Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Sevilla)

Rodrygo was not involved against Mallorca, with the Brazilian struggling to overcome a recent illness, but there is a strong chance that the attacker, who is being linked with a summer exit, will be back in the squad for the game with Sevilla.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: June 18 (vs. Al-Hilal)

Real Madrid remain without the services of Carvajal due to the severe knee injury that the right-back suffered in the clash with Villarreal back in October, but the Spaniard has made excellent progress in his recovery, and a return for the Club World Cup is thought to be a possibility.

Eder Militao

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: June 18 (vs. Al-Hilal)

Real Madrid centre-back Militao damaged his ACL during a La Liga clash with Osasuna back in November, but he is now back on the training field, and a return for the Club World Cup is thought to be on the agenda.

Ferland Mendy

Status: Out Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: June 18 (vs. Al-Hilal)

Mendy's season is over due to the rupture in his right thigh that he suffered against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, but the France international has a chance of being involved in the Club World Cup, which starts in the middle of June.

David Alaba

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Alaba is currently working to be fit for the start of the 2025-26 campaign, with his season ending when it was revealed that he had suffered a meniscus injury in his left knee, which will require an operation.

Eduardo Camavinga

Status: Out Type of injury: Adductor Possible return date: Unknown

Camavinga suffered an adductor injury in the latter stages of Real Madrid's game with Getafe, and the France international has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign, while he is also set to miss the Club World Cup.

Antonio Rudiger

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: June 18 (vs. Al-Hilal)

Rudiger will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing an operation to fix the meniscus tear in his left knee, but he would have been absent regardless, having been handed a six-match ban for throwing an object at the referee during the Copa del Rey final.

The experienced centre-back has a chance of being available for the Club World Cup.

Vinicius Junior

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Sevilla)

Vinicius missed out against Mallorca due to an ankle injury which he suffered in El Clasico, but Ancelotti said on Wednesday night that the Brazilian could potentially be available against Sevilla.

Brahim Diaz

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Sevilla)

Brahim was ruled out of the clash with Mallorca due to a thigh problem, but there is a chance that the versatile attacker will be back in the fold for the clash with Sevilla.

Lucas Vazquez

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Sevilla)

Vazquez is another who could potentially recover in time to take on Sevilla, as the Spaniard's thigh problem, which he suffered in El Clasico, is not as serious as first feared.

Andriy Lunin

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Hand Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Sevilla)

Lunin was absent against Mallorca due to a hand injury which he suffered during a training session, but Real Madrid are hopeful that the goalkeeper will be back in the squad this weekend.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

As mentioned, Rudiger will be banned for the remainder of Real Madrid's La Liga season, in addition to their first match of the 2025-26 campaign, following his red card in the Copa del Rey final.

Aurelien Tchouameni, though, will be back in the squad on Sunday after missing the Mallorca match through suspension.
