Real Madrid will be looking to continue their strong start to the 2019-20 La Liga campaign when they travel to the Wanda Metropolitano to face Atletico Madrid on Saturday night.
Los Blancos beat Osasuna 2-0 on Wednesday to move to the top of La Liga - one point clear of second-placed Atletico as things stand.
For all of the criticism that has come their way this season, Zinedine Zidane's side are unbeaten in Spain's top flight this term and recorded an impressive 1-0 victory at Sevilla on their travels last time out.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Atletico.
Luka Modric
Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: September 28 (vs. Atletico Madrid)
The experienced midfielder has missed Real Madrid's last four games with a muscular problem, while a suspension earlier this season means that he has made just two appearances this term. The 34-year-old could return against Atletico, though, as he has been back in training this week.
Marco Asensio
Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown
Marco Asensio faces a battle to play again this season after suffering a serious knee injury during the team's preparations for the 2019-20 campaign. A timeframe on his return has not yet been set by the club.
Isco
Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: September 28 (vs. Atletico Madrid)
The 27-year-old has missed Real Madrid's last five matches in all competitions with a hamstring problem. The attacker has entered the latter stage of his recovery from the issue, although he remains a serious doubt for this weekend's capital derby at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Marcelo
Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Neck Possible return date: September 28 (vs. Atletico Madrid)
The 31-year-old has been absent from Real Madrid's last three matches due to a neck injury. However, having not featured against Osasuna, there is a chance that the Brazilian could return for this one.
Ferland Mendy
Status: Out Type of injury: Groin Possible return date: October 5 (vs. Granada)
Real Madrid revealed earlier this week that the summer arrival had picked up a groin injury. The Spanish giants did not put a timeframe on his recovery, but reports in Spain have suggested that the left-back will miss the upcoming games against Atletico and Club Brugge.
