How Real Madrid could line up against Granada

How Real Madrid could line up against Granada

First will host second in La Liga on Saturday afternoon as Real Madrid welcome Granada to the Bernabeu.

Madrid currently top the table with 15 points from their seven domestic fixtures this term, while Granada are just a point behind in second.

The visitors have had a free week to prepare for this match, but Zinedine Zidane's side were in Champions League action on Tuesday night, drawing 2-2 with Club Brugge on home soil.

Los Blancos will be determined to continue their strong domestic form this weekend, and the capital giants have won each of their last eight matches against Granada in Spain's top flight.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Zidane's team could line up in the Spanish capital.

Out: Nacho (knee), Ferland Mendy (groin), Marco Asensio (knee) Doubtful: Thibaut Courtois (illness)

Madrid will be without the services of Nacho on Saturday afternoon with the versatile defender picking up a knee injury during Tuesday's clash with Brugge, which could rule him out until the latter stages of 2019.

Marcelo made his return from a neck injury in the Champions League clash, however, and the Brazilian is expected to feature in the starting XI this weekend with Ferland Mendy still out due to a groin issue.

Isco is also pushing to be involved for the first time since August 24 as the Spaniard was back on the bench against Brugge having overcome a hamstring problem.

Gareth Bale was left out of the midweek European clash altogether, but the Wales international is expected to return to the starting side against Granada, joining Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema in the final third.

Thibaut Courtois had emerged as a doubt after being replaced against Brugge through illness, and the Belgium international did not take part in Wednesday's recovery training session.

The goalkeeper is expected to be available on Saturday, but summer arrival Alphonse Areola is on standby to feature between the sticks should the former Chelsea stopper be ruled out.
