How Real Madrid could line up against Celta Vigo

Sports Mole looks at how Real Madrid could line up in Saturday's La Liga clash with Celta Vigo.

Zinedine Zidane will take charge of a Real Madrid match for the first time since the 2018 Champions League final when Celta Vigo visit the Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon.

Zidane is back at Madrid as a replacement for Santiago Solari, and although a La Liga title challenge looks incredibly unlikely, the Frenchman will have second-placed Atletico Madrid in his sights.

With no Copa del Rey or Champions League commitments, the league is Madrid's sole focus.

There is no getting away from the fact that it has been a tough campaign for Los Blancos, but they have already made a move ahead of this summer's transfer window, securing the signature of Eder Militao from Porto.

It is shaping up to be a very busy summer for Los Blancos, but their supporters will first want to see a strong run of results between now and the end of the campaign.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how Zidane's side could line up against Celta.

POSS RM XI vs. CEL

Out: Vinicius Junior (leg injury), Dani Carvajal (torn muscle), Lucas Vazquez (hamstring), Casemiro (suspension), Marcos Llorente (groin)

Sergio Ramos has missed Madrid's last two matches through suspension, but the inspirational captain will return to the starting XI this weekend.

Vinicius Junior, Marcos Llorente, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez remain unavailable through injury, but Gareth Bale is back from the ankle injury that forced him to miss the 4-1 win over Real Valladolid and should start.

Casemiro is suspended, though, meaning that there could be a spot for Dani Ceballos alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the middle of the park.

Marcelo and Isco are two players who suffered under Solari, but the former is expected to be recalled to the starting XI this weekend ahead of Sergio Reguilon, while the latter should at least make the bench.

Carvajal's absence should allow Alvaro Odriozola to start at right-back, while Marco Asensio - another to suffer under Solari - is expected to start in the final third having thrived under Zidane.

Too many of Madrid's key players have struggled this season, but that criticism cannot be aimed at Karim Benzema, who has 22 goals in all competitions this season. The 31-year-old will lead the line once again this weekend.
