Cristiano Ronaldo's record vs. Las Palmas

Sports Mole looks at Cristiano's goals and assists return against Las Palmas ahead of Real Madrid's trip to the Canary Islands this weekend.

Real Madrid return to La Liga action on Saturday evening with a trip to the Canary Islands to face Las Palmas, attempting to keep alive their slimmest of title hopes.

The defending champions are now effectively left battling for silverware in their favourite competition of all, having made it through to the last eight of the Champions League once again.

Boss Zinedine Zidane may therefore opt to rotate his squad for the meeting with Las Palmas, coming just a few days before facing Juventus, though star man Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to be one of those left out.

Ronaldo has a mixed return against this weekend's opponents in terms of goals scored - by his high standards, at least - which Sports Mole takes a closer look at below.

Ronaldo vs. Las Palmas

The Portugal international has only come up against the Gran Canarians a handful of times in the past, each of those coming since their promotion to the Spanish top flight in 2015.

Three goals in that time gives the current Ballon d'Or holder a return better than a goal-a-game, but he was left frustrated in November's reverse fixture and has fired blanks in three of those past five encounters.

Las Palmas have not fared that badly against Los Blancos since climbing back into the big time, in fact, as they held out for a couple of draws last term, including a six-goal thriller at the Bernabeu.

That would have felt like a defeat, however, as Ronaldo popped up with two goals in the closing stages of the match to rescue a point that would prove important come the final day of the campaign.
