Cristiano Ronaldo's record vs. Eibar

Ahead of Real Madrid's La Liga trip to Ipurua, Sports Mole looks at Cristiano Ronaldo's past record against Eibar.

Real Madrid's hopes of retaining the La Liga title may be effectively over, but Los Blancos will at least have their sights set firmly on catching city rivals Atletico Madrid in second place.

A hugely disappointing domestic campaign has left Madrid sitting third in the table, five points off Atletico and a whopping 15 behind arch-rivals and leaders Barcelona.

This weekend Zinedine Zidane's side will take on an Eibar side that have been punching above their weight this season and are on course for their highest ever finish, but Madrid will still be heavy favourites to come away with all three points on Saturday lunchtime.

Once again most eyes will be on talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to provide the difference, and here Sports Mole looks at the striker's previous record against this weekend's opponents.

Ronaldo vs. Eibar

Eibar were only promoted to the top flight for the first time in 2014, so Ronaldo has less experience playing against them than he does the majority of other clubs in La Liga at the moment.

However, those experiences have almost all been positive ones, with Eibar only once avoiding defeat against Madrid since their promotion - earning a famous 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu last season.

Incidentally, that was the first time Ronaldo had failed to score past Eibar - although he did register an assist - and he also drew a blank in the reverse fixture earlier this season despite Madrid recording a 3-0 win in October.

Despite failing to find the back of the net in his last two appearances in this fixture, Ronaldo still has a very impressive record against Saturday's opponents having directly contributed to nine goals in his six outings.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner scored home and away against Eibar in both the 2014-15 and 2015-16 campaigns, with his best return coming in his first ever meeting with the club when he scored two and assisted another in a 4-0 win.
