Copa del Rey last-16 draw: Who will Real Madrid, Barcelona face in the Spanish Cup?

Copa del Rey draw: Real Madrid, Barca learn last-16 opponents

Real Madrid will take on Celta Vigo in the last-16 stage of the 2024-25 Copa del Rey, while Barcelona have been drawn against Real Betis.

Barcelona booked their spot in this round of the competition courtesy of a 4-0 success over Barbastro, while Real Madrid thumped Deportiva Minera 5-0 to secure their position in the final 16 of this season's tournament.

The draw for the next round has now been made, with Real Madrid and Barcelona learning their opponents, while Atletico Madrid, who are on a 13-game winning run in all competitions, will face Elche.

Athletic Bilbao are the holders of the trophy, beating Mallorca in last year's final, and the Basque side will take on Osasuna, while Real Sociedad have been paired with Rayo Vallecano.

The ties are scheduled to take place between January 14 and January 16, with the quarter-finals then occurring at the start of February, and both Real Madrid and Barcelona will be looking to avoid what would be surprise eliminations at this stage.

Pontevedra shocked Mallorca in the last round, recording a 3-0 win, and the fourth-tier outfit will now tackle Getafe, while third-tier team Ourense CF have been drawn at home to Valencia.

Twelve of the final 16 teams left in the competition play in La Liga, with two in the Segunda Division - Almeria and Elche - while Ourense and Pontevedra play in the third and fourth tier respectively.
