Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Real Sociedad

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Thursday's Copa del Rey clash with Real Sociedad.

Real Madrid will be looking to book their spot in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey when they welcome fellow La Liga side Real Sociedad to the Bernabeu on Thursday night.

Los Blancos thumped Real Zaragoza 4-0 in the last-16 stage of the competition, while Sociedad progressed to the quarter-finals courtesy of a 3-1 home victory over Osasuna.

Zinedine Zidane's side, who beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 on Saturday, will enter the match off the back of eight straight wins in all competitions, including their last four in La Liga to move to the top of the table.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the Copa del Rey contest in the Spanish capital.

Marco Asensio

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Marco Asensio remains on the sidelines with the serious knee injury that he picked up during the team's preparations for the 2019-20 campaign. The Spaniard is making positive progress in his recovery, though, and could potentially return to action towards the end of March.

Gareth Bale

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: February 6 (vs. Sociedad)

Gareth Bale has missed Madrid's last three La Liga matches, two of which due to an ankle problem. The attacker was not deemed fit enough for the Madrid derby with Atletico on Saturday afternoon, although it is thought that the Wales international could be available for the clash with Sociedad.

Eden Hazard has been on the sidelines since the end of November due to a fractured ankle. The 29-year-old, who joined in a big-money deal from Chelsea last summer, has recently stepped up his recovery in training, though, and could potentially be involved in Thursday's Copa del Rey clash.
