Barcelona to face Bayern Munich in Champions League semi-finals

Barcelona will take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals, while Juventus will go head to head with holders Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola will return to former club Barcelona when his Bayern Munich side play the Spanish outfit in the Champions League semi-finals, while Juventus and holders Real Madrid will go head to head.

The 44-year-old discovered this morning during the draw in Nyon that he will return to Camp Nou for the first time since he left the club in 2012.

Guardiola guided Barca to two Champions League titles during his four-year spell with the Spanish giants, but he will be in the opposite dugout when his Bayern side fight for a place in the final.

Barcelona have been in impressive form of late, with forward trio Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez all finding their shooting boots, while Bayern, who have won the European title five times, are in prolific form themselves following Tuesday's 6-1 thrashing of Porto in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, holders Real Madrid, who claimed La Decima last season, will travel to Turin for the semi-final first leg to take on Italian opposition in the form of Juventus, who have reached the final four for the first time in 12 years.

Real edged their way into the semi-finals with a late 1-0 win over local rivals Atletico Madrid this week, while Juve sealed their place with a 1-0 aggregate win over Monaco.

Despite Juve's absence from the crucial knockout phase of the competition, only Bayern have won more Champions League games against Madrid than the Italian side, who have won five.

The semi-final first legs will be played on May 5 and 6, with the return fixtures being held on May 12 and 13.

The final will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on June 6.
