Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Chelsea

Real Madrid injury, suspension list vs. Chelsea

Champions League holders Real Madrid will endeavour to rubber-stamp a place in the semi-finals when they meet Chelsea in the second leg of their quarter-final at Stamford Bridge.

Los Blancos will take a 2-0 lead to the English capital from the first leg, where Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio struck either side of the half-time whistle.

Carlo Ancelotti's side kept their fleeting hopes of La Liga glory alive with an identical win over Cadiz at the weekend, where Asensio was again on target alongside Nacho Fernandez.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with the Blues, who suffered a 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in their most recent Premier League fixture.

Ferland Mendy

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: Unknown

Left-back Ferland Mendy suffered a calf injury during a training session last month, and while no timeframe has been placed on his recovery, he is not expected back for the second leg.

Vinicius Junior

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Fatigue Possible return date: April 18 (vs. Chelsea)

Vinicius Junior was one of two fresh absentees for Ancelotti against Cadiz due to muscular fatigue, but his absence was merely precautionary, and he is expected to make a swift return on Tuesday.

Toni Kroos

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Fatigue Possible return date: April 18 (vs. Chelsea)

Similarly, Toni Kroos was left out of Real's squad at the weekend due to overload, but the Germany international should take his rightful place in the team for the second leg.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Real Madrid have no suspended players for this match.
